The official beginning of St. Peter's Malankara Catholic Church Pathanamthitta was on 19 Nov. 1938. On that day the event of Re-union of Rev. Fr. Pathros Kizhakkeveettil and fifty other members took place and thus established the parish and Rev. Fr. Pathros Kizhakkeveettil was the first vicar of the St.Peter's Parish under the Archdiocese of Trivandrum.

Before Re-union movement itself (1930) certain persons Re-united into the Catholic Church in Puthenpeedika, the then Quilon Latin Diocesan parish. Fore runners to be remembered ore: Mr. C. Philip Son of Kizhakkeveettil Adv. C.P. Cheriyan (1926), Peedikaparampil Mr. P.G. Thomas and Powath Mr. P.C.Varghese (1927).

In those days in the property of Mr. Thomas Peedikaparampil, they built a Chapel and the Priest from Charummood; Quilon Diocese came and offered Holy Mass. Later it was shifted to the MSCLPS and then to the Presbytery hall.

In 1940 foundation stone was layed for the new Church. But the work started only in 1950 and in 27 Nov.1953 the Prefect of the Oriental Congregation His Eminence Card Eugine Tisserant Blessed the Church along with Archbishop Benedict Mar Gregorios and Mar Severiose of Thiruvalla and Mar Jerome Fernandez Bishop of Quilon
